Tokyo: Education Kalon Tharlam Dolma Changra, having conducted a meaningful one-week official tour, successfully returned to India this morning. Representative Dr Tsewang Gyalpo Arya and Secretary Tashi Yangzom of the Liaison Office of H.H. the Dalai Lama saw Honourable Kalon off at the Tokyo Haneda airport.
On her first day in Tokyo, Kalon attended H.H. the Dalai Lama’s 89th Birthday celebration at Hotel Okura as the Chief Guest of the event, where she delivered a keynote speech thanking the Japanese people and government for their sincere support for the Tibet issue and their strong faith in the H.H. the Dalai Lama’s vision for world peace and harmony. She met and interacted with the lawmakers, abbots and monks, intellectuals, and Tibet supporters at the birthday celebration attended by some two hundred people. Dechen Naoko escorted and helped Kalon communicate with the participants.
The next day, Kalon Changra met the Representatives and the Japan Tibet Support Group (TSG) members at the Tibet House Japan office. She thanked the TSG members for supporting the Tibetan struggle for freedom and justice. The representatives and the members of the TSG introduced themselves. They explained their activities to Kalon Ito Juko and Kuga Seiji of the Rengein Tanjoji (ARTIC), an NPO in Kumamoto, who gave a presentation on rehabilitation work in the Tibetan settlements in India. Some fifteen representatives and members from eight TSG participated, and Kalon offered Tibetan khata and white greeting scarves to all the participants.
In the afternoon, Kalon Changra addressed a Tibet, Uyghur, and Southern Mongolia seminar, “Chinese Colonial Boarding Schools, an Evil Design to Eradicate the minority nationals’ Identity.” at Tokyo University. Kalon spoke on how the CCP leadership is trying to rob Tibetan language, identity, culture, and religion from the children through the establishment of colonial boarding schools. Speakers and panels include Japanese lawmaker Ishii Mitsuko, Representative Dr. Tsewang Gyalpo Arya, Makino Seishu of the Save Tibet Network, Retep Afumet of the Japan Uyghur Association, Olhunud Daichin of the Southern Mongolia Congress, Rev. Kobayashi Shuei of the Super Sangha, and Kameda Hirofumi of the Dream for Children.
On the third day, Kalon Changra visited the Japanese parliament building at Nagatacho, where she was welcomed by Shimomura Hakubun, Chairman of the bipartisan Japan Parliamentarian Support Group for Tibet, and the members at the International conference hall. Kalon Changra thanked the parliamentarians for inviting her and supporting the Tibetan cause at this challenging time. She shared with the lawmakers how H.H. the Dalai Lama used to say, “Supporting Tibet is analogous to supporting justice. It is not pro-Tibet but pro-justice.”
Shimomura Hakubun thanked Kalon for visiting the parliament building and sharing her views with the lawmakers. He assured full support from the Japanese parliamentarians for the just and non-violent struggle of the Tibetan people for freedom in Tibet.
In two separate talks at Reitaku University and the Chiba Institute for Technology, Kalon discussed the Tibetan education system and briefed the audience on the concept and development of SEE learning and its importance to the students and faculty members of the two universities.
The faculties and the students greatly appreciated Kalon’s talk on SEE learning. They expressed a desire to learn more about SEE Learning. Kalon shared materials on SEE learning published by Emory University and the Education policy of the Department of Education of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) with the universities. She thanked the Chairman and the Administration of the two Universities for their support in educating Tibetan students.
On the last day of her visit, she met with some supporters in the education and cultural field. She discussed promoting SEE learning and thanked them for supporting H.H. the Dalai Lama’s vision and the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) efforts to promote the education system where the minds and hearts of the children are adequately nurtured and taken care of for a better and peaceful world whole of love and compassion.
