DHARAMSHALA: Mr Phagpa Tsering, Kalon of the Department of Security, Central Tibetan Administration, successfully concluded his official visit to Tibetan settlements in Uttarakhand. He visited the Tibetan communities of Lakhanwala, Kheraa and Baluwala coming under the jurisdiction of Herbertpur settlement office on 12 April.
The settlement officer, the chairman of the local Tibetan assembly, principal of CST and representatives of Tibetan governmental and non-governmental organisations welcomed Kalon at the settlement.
Addressing the public, Kalon spoke on the 15th Kashag’s five-fifty strategy, personal security of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, activities of security department, the Middle Way Approach, and Sino Tibetan dialogue, among others.
He also spoke about the scholarship schemes of CTA, the finance department’s plan to launch a non-banking financial company, CTA’s loan scheme for Tibetan sweater sellers, etc. The talk was followed by question answer sessions.
Following his talk, he visited the monasteries and old age homes based in these settlements and interacted with them. At Baluwala settlement, he inaugurated a few houses and hotels, which have finished construction.
On 13 April, he visited Lingtsang settlement, Dhondupling in Clement town, Tibetan women’s center in Rajpur, and the monasteries and schools in the vicinity. He interacted with the Tibetan public and responded to queries on the Kashag and its policies.
