
Kalimpong: Kalon Phagpa Tsering Labrang of the Department of Security, CTA after completion of the official visit at Ravangla settlement visited Kalimpong on 16 July. He was received by the settlement officer Tenzing Dhadon, members of Local Tibetan Assembly, representatives of different government and non-government organisations.
Kalon Phagpa Tsering was warmly welcomed by the principal, staff, and students of CST Kalimpong. Kalon then took a tour around the school campus, inspected the classrooms, and hostels.
Later Kalon visited various monasteries and institutes in Kalimpong.
In the afternoon, Kalon Phagpa Tsering addressed the gathering led by Settlement officer and members of the settlement in the community hall. He briefed the gathering about the roles and initiatives of the Department of Security. He also stressed on the critical situation of religion, culture, and environment in Tibet.
He further answered and clarified the doubts and questions from the members of the settlement.
On 17 July, Kalon Phagpa Tsering met with the former liaison officer of His Holiness the Dalai Lama Nyima Wangdue. Kalon Phagpa Tsering also paid a visit to former Kalon Gyalo Thondup at his residence.
Kalon Phagpa Tsering then left for Odlabari from Kalimpong where he was received by the members of the Siliguri Auklabari Tibetan community. He briefed them about functions of the Central Tibetan Administration and reminded them of the importance to preserve Tibetan culture and Language.
In the afternoon, Kalon Phagpa Tsering was warmly welcomed at Salugara by the members of the community. Members of the community gathered in the monastery hall led by Kalimpong settlement officer, members of Local Tibetan settlement. Kalon addressed the gathering and called for unity within the Tibetan community. He answered and clarified questions and doubts of the members of the community.
Kalon later visited monasteries and nunneries.
Kalon Phagpa Tsering concluded his final leg of his official visits.
On 18 July, Kalon Phagpa Tsering was seen off by Kalimpong settlement officer Tenzing Dhadon at Bagdogra airport.
