
Kalon Norzin Dolma Meets with Taiwan’s Foreign Minister.
Taipei: Kalon Norzin Dolma who is on a week-long visit to Taiwan with Secretary Karma Choeying met with Taiwan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jaushieh Joseph Wu on Tuesday, 28 March 2023.
Kalon apprised the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the CCP’s ongoing policy of eradicating Tibetan religion, culture, language and Tibetan identity. She further briefed on the global political status and how Taiwan and Tibet as victims of CCP’s aggression and intimidation must unitedly face the challenge of China. During their interaction, Kalon raised the subject of visa-related problems faced by the monks in the Tibetan Buddhist Centre and Tibetans studying in Taiwan and sought the ministry’s attention and support on the same. Kalon also requested the ministry to consider providing visas for the Tibetans who wish to enrol in certificate programs and courses in Taiwan.
“As Taiwan is an exemplar of democracy for nations around the world, any kind of support for Tibet would only increase its prestige on the global stage,” she pointed out.
The Foreign Minister assured to identify a solution to the visa issue as raised by the Kalon. He conveyed Taiwan’s concern and solidarity with the Tibetans and further expressed his admiration for His Holiness the Dalai Lama. He suggested the strengthening of ties between the Europe-based Taiwan consulate and the Office of Tibet.
This meeting between the two was attended by Amb. Wallace M. G Chow and Representative Kalsang Gyaltsen Bawa of Taiwan’s Office of Tibet.
