Dharamshala: As part of the official engagements in Mysore, Kalon (Minister) Norzin Dolma of the Department of Information and International Relations-CTA visited and addressed two educational institutions- SBRR Mahajana Law College and Vidyavardhaka Law College on Human Rights and its Role in International Relations, followed by strategy meeting with Indo Tibet Friendship Society (ITFS), Mysuru and visit to Mysuru based Tibetan Community Centre (MTCC)-Social Welfare Initiative undertaken by The Shenphen Charitable Trust on 20 May 2023.
In the morning, Kalon addressed the faculty and students of SBRR Mahajana Law College as Guest of Honour on Human Rights and its Role in International Relations at State level Seminar alongside Chief Guest Prof. Dr. C. Basavaraju, Vice Chancellor of University of Mysore.
The seminar was presided by Shri T. Muralidhar Bhagavat, President of Mahajana Education Society in the presence of Dr. T. Vijayalakshmi Muralidhar, Secretary of Mahajana Education Society; Dr. C.K. Renukarya, Director of Pooja Bhagavat Mahajana PG Centre and Prof. Prabhuswamy M.M., Principal of SBRR Mahajana Law College amongst faculty members and law students.
In her address, Kalon apprised the occupation of Tibet by China in 1950, the situation inside Tibet, highlighting the forced enrolment of Tibetan children into colonial-style boarding school, and the collection of DNA samples. She also reiterated CTA’s Middle Way Approach to resolve the Sino-Tibet conflict.
In the afternoon, Kalon Norzin Dolma as Chief Guest delivered the keynote speech on Human Rights violations in Tibet under Communist Party of China and Middle Way Approach of Central Tibetan Administration as envisioned by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama at a seminar titled: Human Rights and its Role in International Relations.
Shri Gundappa Gowda, President of Vidyavardhaka Law College, presided the seminar in the presence of dignitaries including Shri Vishwanath, Secretary; Shri Srishaila Ramannavar, Treasurer; Prof.K.B. Vasudeva, Director; Dr. Deepu P., Principal and Dr. Boregowda, Coordinator.
All these events were organised by ITFS in association with the respective colleges.
In this visit to Mysore this time, Kalon was accompanied by Jigme Tsultrim, Chief Representative Officer of South Zone; Guru Nyima, Lugsum Tibetan Settlement Officer; Chemi Dorjee, Dikyi Larsoe Tibetan Settlement Officer; Tenzing Dhadon, Hunsur Tibetan Settlement Officer; Tashi Dikyi of India Tibet Coordination Office and CRO staff members.
