Dharamshala: Tibetan Children’s Village (TCV) School, Gopalpur commemorated its 25th founding anniversary along with the school’s 22nd annual Inter House Athletics Meet earlier today.
Kalon Dolma Gyari of the Department of Security attended the event as chief guest, accompanied by special guests Deputy Speaker Dolma Tsering Teykhang and Dharamshala Tibetan Settlement Officer Kunchok Migmar.
The event was also attended by Director of Institute of Buddhist Dialectics Geshe Samten Gyatso, Principal of Sarah College Passang Tsering, President of Tibetan Youth Congress Gonpo Dhundup, President of Tibetan Women’s Association Tenzing Dolma, directors of Tibetan Children’s Village schools, former students, teachers and students of TCV Gopalpur.
A minute-mourning was observed for the Tibetan martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the Tibet cause and the late members of TCV Gopalpur family, including its first Director late Phuntsok Namgyal and Junior Section Assistant Headmaster late Wangchuk Tsering.
Kalon presented a heartfelt gratitude award to TCV school’s Ama Jetsun Pema, former Kalon of CTA, on behalf of the school, followed by inauguration of the school’s magazine “Chuthik”.
In her inaugural remarks, Kalon Dolma Gyari underscored benevolence of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in creating opportunities for exile Tibetan community while urging the gathering to follow His Holiness’ guidance for resolving the Tibet cause. She further reminded the staff and students amassed at the school’s playground about the current dire situation of the Tibetan people and nation.
Lauding the ex students and the school’s administrators for their contributions in the provision of proper education to Tibetan students, the chief guest said “during the hand over of Central Tibetan Schools (CTS), the Government of India was confident with Tibetan’s efficiency” to highlight the success of Tibetan schools in exile.
Subsequently, the sporting part of the day was kicked off with the chief guest declaring the opening of 22nd Inter House Athletics Meet.
