Dharamshala: After completing their project on Tibet, a group of media students at the Jamia Milia Islamia University, will showcase Tibet during its educational fare to be held in New Delhi from 27 October.A group of 22 postgraduate students from AJK Mass Communication Research Centre of Jamia Millia Islamia University along with 2 technical staffs, a lecturer and a professor, successfully completed their media tour to Dharamsala from 14-18 October, said Mr Tenzin Lekshey, coordinator of the India-Tibet Coordination Office, who organised the tour.He said the students doing their MA in television, radio and photo journalism visited Dharamsala for three days to know the first hand information about Tibetan issues. Prior to their visit, the students were briefed on Tibet by Kalon Tempa Tsering, Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Mr. Vijay Kranti, journalist and a long time Tibet supporter and Tenzin Lekshay at the university. During their tour in Dharamsala, the students had interactive discussions with various officials of the Central Tibetan Administration, educational institutions, artists of the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts, monks and common people, on various issues of Tibet namely education, culture and the Tibetan freedom struggle.Some of these projects will be aired on the national television and also in the university for the general students.Complimenting the successful tour, Mr Moonis, a student in the group, said: “I along with everyone had a great learning experience.” The ‘Media Students’ Program’ organized by India-Tibet Coordination Office aims to create awareness about Tibetan issues to the Indian media students who are joining the mainstream media. –Reporting by India Tibet Coordination Office.
