Ireland: On Monday 5th July, Senator Malcolm Byrne of Irish Fianna Fáil politician spoke in the Upper house of the Irish Parliament in condemnation of the CCP’s Genocide and Human Rights abuses in Tibet, HongKong and Xinjiang.
He said the ongoing abuse of #HumanRights by #CCP in #China needs to continue to be called out. Those MEPs who seek to defend Beijing’s actions must be held accountable. The EU and its member parties must also decide if it shares those views.
“In recent, we have seen from Amnesty International and indeed at other global human rights agencies that further details of the continuation of Genocide against the Uyghur people by the CCP. This of course is nothing new. The oppression of the minority we know that how the Tibetan people have been subjected to a brutal persecution and repression for decades.
We have seen through over the last years the introduction of national security law. The China has oppressed legal freedom in Hong Kong, and has detained political opponents and dissident there.
On Wednesday next week, outside of the convention centre, there will be protest by practitioners of Falung Gong. They are going to be highlighting the Chinese Communist Parties ongoing prosecution of minorities. We know too well in this houses that we discussed before the issue of some of the detentions and indeed we have seen other issue have been detained by the CCP. I would hope that the Irish times would give us much attention and continue to give attention in its editorial has its advertising to the CCP.
I am calling again for us to have a debate on China, our relationships with China and human rights abuses by the CCP including issues around the Belt and Road Strategy. I welcome the fact that our minister of state Jack Chambers has confirmed me that there will be no official government representation at the Beijing winter Olympics. But I still believe the Government should go further and support others and other countries who has been calling Beijing Olympics to be moved. But I also believed that we need to start call out those who embarrassing Ireland in the European level by apologising for the action of Chinese Communist Party” attested Senator Malcolm Byrne.
