Indian Supporters Discuss Tibet at Jodhpur Conference

Dharamshala: A two-day conference of the Rajasthan chapter of the Indo-Tibetan Friendship Society (ITFS) was held on 2 and 3 June in Jodhpur. Around 250 Tibet supporters representing ITFS Rajasthan including ITFS’s Women’s Association, the Youth and Students’ Association, Indian Soldiers’ Association, assembled at the Motor Association’s Hall to express their solidarity with the Tibetan cause.
The Chief guest of the conference was Kalon Tripa Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche, who expressed his gratitude towards the steady and selfless support from Indian friends and commended the Rajasthan chapter of ITFS for being the most active amongst the ITFS chapters.
He also spoke about the centuries old religious and cultural relations between India and Tibet and stressed the need for the Indians to preserve its unique heritage and the ethos of non-violence practiced by Mahatma Gandhi.
The conference was organised under the guidance of Shri. Amar Krishan Vyas, the Vice-President of the National ITFS and President of ITFS, Rajasthan. Mr. Vyas was re-elected as the President of ITFS, Rajasthan at the conference. A nine-point resolution in support of Tibet was unanimously passed at the end of the conference.
Special invitees at the event included Dr. N.K Trikha, National Convernor, Core Group for Tibet and Mr. Surendra Kumar, General Secretary, All India Gandhi Peace Foundation and Swami Senacharya Achlanand.
