
Patna: India Tibet Friendship Society, Bihar chapter in collaboration with Patna College organized a seminar titled “Tibbat Ka Prashan: Bharat ki Bhumika” at Patna College auditorium on Monday, March 30, 2015.
The seminar was attended by members of the India Tibet Friendship Society, Tibet Supporters and students of Patna College.
The program was chaired by Dr. N.K. Chaudhari, Principal, Patna College. The Speaker includes Prof. Subroto Adhikari, Prof. R.N. Sharma, Dr. Manoj Kumar and Shri Surender Kumar.
Prof. Subroto Adhikari said that, In the Shimla Agreement that was held way back in 1913-14, clearly signifies Tibet as a sovereign nation. The representatives of Tibet and British India signed the agreement and China refuse to do so. So from historical and legal dimension, Tibet was a sovereign nation until it was occupied by China in 1959.

Prof. R.N. Sharma stated that, Tibet is known as “Roof of the world” and any exploitation take place in Tibet will have direct implications to the downstream nation in particular India. Tibet is rich in natural resources especially minerals and mines. Tibet is also the water source to India and Asia which china is diverting the flow. For India, Tibet is the only nation, which has preserved the rich India’s religious tradition.
Dr. Manoj Kumar is a long time Tibet supporter and organizing secretary of India Tibet Friendship Society. He said that Tibetans under the leadership of His Holiness the Dalai Lama have been living in India for the past more than 5 decades. The Central Tibetan Administration based in Dharamshala is the headquarters of Tibetans in and outside Tibet. It seeks for Genuine Autonomy for the Tibetan people through Middle Way Policy from the People’s Republic of China. Today the Tibet issue is of India’s own interest from all spheres. Therefore we need to support the Middle Way Policy for a peaceful solution.
Shri Surender Kumar is a Regional Convener of Core Group for Tibetan cause-India. He said the youth of India needs to be addressd and aware on the Tibet issue. Tibet Support Groups shall focus more on participation of younger generation in the Tibetan movement.
The program conclude with vote of thanks addressed by Tenzin Paljor, staff of New Delhi based India Tibet Coordination Office. Tibet related books and leaflets were also distributed to the participants.
