Indian media delegations’ visit to Dharamshala successful:ITCO

Dharamshala:A fourteen-member Indian media delegation from the regional newspapers across India visited Dharamshala, as a part of its annual program organised by the New-Delhi based India Tibet Coordination Office (ITCO) from 27 to 30 September.
The delegation included fourteen journalists from Arunachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Bihar, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Gujarat and Delhi.
The members met Kalon Tripa Samdhong Rinpoche, who briefed them on the status of the dialogue between the Central Tibetan Administration and People’s Republic of China. Kalon Tripa also conveyed gratitude to the government of India for its genuine support for the Tibetan populace living in India.

Mr Sonam Dagpo, Secretary for International Relations of the Department of Information and International Relation briefed them on the historical background of Tibet, and the democratic set-up of the Central Tibetan Administration.
The delegates observed the 4th session of the Tibetan parliament-in-exile (TPiE). The Deputy Speaker of TPiE, Mrs Dolma Gyari explained how the Tibetan people elect members of the TPiE and also briefed them on the functions of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile.

Information Secretary of the DIIR, Mr Thupten Samphel gave a detail overview on the democratization process in the Central Tibetan Administration and the preservation of all aspects of Tibet’s rich identity in the Tibetan communities spread across the world.
The delegation also attend a press conference by the members of the Regional Assembly of Trentino – South Tyrol, an Autonomous Region in Northern Italy, who were on a five-day official visit to Dharamsala.
The members interacted with members of the Tibetan NGOs. This was followed by a visit to the Tibetan Children Village School.
“This visit of the media delegation visit to Dharamsala was successful and the delegates would hopefully spread the message across of all aspects of Tibet’s unique identity,” notes ITCO.
