Dehradun: Kalon Sonam Topgyal Khorlatsang, Department of Home, CTA visited various Tibetan settlements in and around Dehradun including Kumrao, Sataun Kham Kathok, Herbertpur Dhoegu Yougyal Ling, Kham Lingtsang, Puruwala Sakya and Poanta Cholsum settlement from 18 to 21 June 2019.
During his visit to Kumrao Tibetan settlement, Home Kalon inaugurated 11 new shops, construction of which were recently completed. The project is funded and supported by Department of Home, CTA.
Kumrao settlement officer, Local assembly members of Kumrao settlement, representatives of the Gapa Society and other members were present at the inaugural ceremony. It was also announced that 35 percent of the proceedings of the new shops would be contributed towards the Kumrao Tibetan Settlement Office.
Settlement officer of Kamrao Thupten Choephel presented a detailed report on the new 11 shops project and handed over its administration to the President of Local Kumrao Gapa Dedon Tsokpa.
The President, in turn, expressed his gratitude to the Department of Home for supporting the project of building 11 new shops in the settlement.
In his inaugural address, Home Kalon explained that the Home Department had approved the new project after conducting an in-depth analysis of the situation of the settlement.
“The department has agreed upon the request made by the Settlement as the project is certain to bring positive developments for the settlement and its people especially financially. Moreover, it is going to be beneficial in both the short term and long run,” Kalon said.
Kalon later visited Sataun Kham Kathok, Dhoegu Yougyal Ling, Kham Lingtsang, Puruwala Sakya and Poanta Cholsum settlement. He also visited Sambhota Tibetan school, Paonta.
He spoke on the Five-Fifty vision and elaborated its aim and objectives and introduced the important undertakings of CTA under the leadership of the 15th Kashag.
Finally, he requested the public gathered to commit towards fulfilling the aspirations of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
