Out of the list of 890 prospective candidates shortlisted through the lottery for the Resettlement Project to Canada, invitation for filling out immigration application have been received for 204 candidates on 19th March 2013. The applications have to be completed and sent to reach the Canadian High Commission, New Delhi before 17th March 2013. Among the first call for application received for 204, there are 64 candidates from Tezu, 37 from Tuting, 79 from Miao, 24 and from Tenzingang. The medical examination and interviews of the prospective candidates are tentatively scheduled in May 2013. The Canadian High Commission, New Delhi has made arrangements for medical examination and interviews at Tinsukia and Dibrugrah, Assam for the convenience of the applicants from the settlements all of which are located in Arunachal Pradesh.
The Canadian Government have very kindly waived off the Immigration Fees for the candidates. The quantum of monetary benefit to the prospective immigrants from these remote settlements on account of waiving of the application fee, which is otherwise nonrefundable, amounts to around Canadian $450,000 or Rs. 2.4 crores.
