
DHARAMSHALA: The Department of Home, Central Tibetan Administration inaugurated Tibetan Career Centre and a Jawed Habib certified hair-dressing training centre at the old Tibetan Reception Centre in Mcleod Ganj. The training is organised by the Tibetan Career Centre, which is now under the Youth Empowerment Support (YES) program of the Home department.
30 Tibetan youths have enrolled in the 1st training batch. The training program was inaugurated by Mr. Chhemey Rigzin, Additional Secretary of Home Department. Deputy Secretary Mr. Kunchok Dhundup, programme coordinator of YES, was also present.
The YES Tibetan Career Centre aims to meet the need of professionals in a growing job market and explore skill related training avenues, and create better employment opportunities for the existing Tibetan youths. The centre guides, assists and employ Tibetan youths through its four main centre in India namely 1) Dharamsala – North Zone, 2) Delhi – North West Zone, 3) Bangalore – South Central Zone and 4) Miao – North East Zone. The services provided by this centre include identifying the right candidate for the right job, finding one’s career interest and career planning, resume and Interview Preparation, and connecting prospective employers with the candidates.
Speaking to the trainees, Additional Secretary Mr. Chhemey Rigzin spoke about the importance of career goals and professionalism. He highlighted the services provided by the Youth Empowerment Support, Department of Home. He stated that, no matter what educational background, it’s important to have dignity in what you do and respect your professional career. He also recalled His Holiness the Dalai Lama ‘s aspiration to boost professionals in the Tibetan community to create a self-reliant society.
Youth Empowerment Support (YES) offers various employable skill trainings to Tibetan youth. The hair dressing training course is an additional training program, apart from the regular skill training provided at the ISTL Nelamangala in Bangalore.
