Dharamshala: The Department of Home, CTA this Tuesday hosted a felicitation for Mr Steve Killelea, Founder and Chairman of The Charitable Foundation (TCF), Australia and a longtime friend of the Tibetan people on 22 October. A philanthropist and successful businessman, Mr Steve Killelea is known in the Tibetan community as a dear friend and longtime benefactor who has been supporting many development projects for Tibetan people through the Department of Home specifically on Agricultural development.
He is currently visiting Dharamshala with a delegation from United States Institute of Peace for a conference meeting with His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
At the felicitation ceremony, Home Secretary Tsewang Dolma Shosur, Additional Secretary Dawa Tsultrim, Dhondup Tsering Dy. Secretary, other senior colleagues and the staff welcomed him warmly.
As the Secretary offered a traditional scarf to Mr Killelea, she said the event is a small gesture to symbolise the gratitude that Tibetans feel for Mr Killelea and to recognise and appreciate his generous assistance towards the Tibetan people over many years.
This was followed by Mr Dhondup Tsering, Deputy Secretary’s overview presentation of TCF’s projects being implemented in different Tibetan settlements.
Later, Mr Killelea addressed the gathering expressing his appreciation and also assured the Tibetan community of TCF’s continued support in the future too.
Mr Killelea then met with the Sikyong Dr Lobsang Sangay at the latter’s office. The Sikyong presented him with a CTA Souvenir and expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the Tibetan people. He said that Tibetan people deeply appreciate the compassionate support of The Charitable Foundation and benefit greatly from their projects.
Later, Kalon Sonam Topgyal Khorlatsang, Department of Home hosted a luncheon for Mr Killelea. Kalon presented a Buddha thangka and requested his continued support.
