Dharamshala: As per the directives issued by Kashag as early as on 3 April, the Home Department had directed all settlement officers to assist Tibetans in distress especially the elders, infirm and those in the destitute list.
Accordingly, food relief packages were distributed to 3184 destitute Tibetans and over 50-lakh emergency support fund was announced for the distressed in India, Nepal and Bhutan.
Moreover, the Home Department has further ramped up its efforts by distributing advance relief aid amounting to 1.6 crores rupees (16,341,218) for 1392 destitute elderlies and 662 destitute students in India, Nepal and Bhutan.
With the aim to ensure that they are financially secure and protected amidst the pandemic, the Home department has dispensed the advance relief for the destitute elders and students who will continue to receive the additional stipends for three, four and six-month periods.
