His Holiness to Teach full text of Bodhicharyavatara
Dharamsala 30 December: His Holiness the Dalai Lama began teaching the full text of Shantideva’s Bodhicharyavatara (Bodhisattva’s way of life) at the request of South Korea’s Jonnam Yeosucity Dukchungdong Sukchen Temple.
It was announced earlier by the Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama that due to lack of time, His Holiness will only teach Chapters 6 and 8 of the text, which deal with the subjects of patience and concentration.
Yesterday morning, His Holiness, while making a general remark before beginning the teaching, said that at the request of the Abbot of the South Korean Temple, the full text will be taught for the Korean devotees who had wished to receive the full teaching in the coming years.
About 200 Koreans along with a sizeable number of Korean media are attending the teaching. After the initial Tibetan prayers, the Koreans were asked by His Holiness to say Buddhist prayers in their own language.
Several hundreds of Tibetans from Tibet are in attendance at the teaching, including some very elderly ones. Simultaneous translations of the teaching are being provided in Korean, English and Chinese.
The teaching will conclude tomorrow afternoon.
