His Holiness to Inaugurate Dakpo Shedrupling in May
Dharamsala 29 March, 2005: His Holiness the Dalai Lama will inaugurate the new monastery building of Dakpo Shedrupling on 10 May 2005. The monastery is in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama will be at the monastery for five days from 10 to 14 May 2005. His Holiness will give teachings on a teaching on Dakpo Ngawang Dakpa’s Lamrim Legsung Nyingkhu (Drops of Elegant Teachings on the Stages of Path), one of the eight major explanatory texts on Lamrim (Stages of Path). There will also be an Avalokiteshvara initiation by His Holiness the Dalai Lama and a long life offering ceremony (Tenzhug ) in the honour of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
In an announcement, the monastery’s administration has expressed its gratitude to His Holiness the Dalai Lama that the monastery could be restored in Bomdila, northeatern India, in1960 following the Tibetan uprising against Chinese rule in 1959.
Later, on the advice of the Central Tibetan Administration, the monastery was shifted to Mainpat Tibetan settlement in the Indian state of Chattisgarh, earlier a part of Madhya Pradesh.
