
DHARAMSHALA: His Holiness the dalai Lama’s 79th birthday was celebrated with much pomp and ceremony in all parts of Tibetan settlements including in Bir, Himachal Pradesh and Darjeeling in West Bengal.
In Bir, hundreds of Tibetans and friends of Tibet gathered on 6 July to mark the birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Himachal Pradesh MLA Shri Kishori Lal Ji was the chief guest at the official ceremony. Other guests include Indo Tibetan Friendship Association’s Vice President Shri Dainik Ram Thakur, SDM Baijnath Shri Rugved Thakur, local Bir Pradhan Shri Suresh Ji, Abbot of Bir Sakya Lama Monastery Venerable Khenpo Lungrik Sengey, BTS Settlement Officer(Tsering lhamo), LTA Vice President Mr. Gyalpo Dhondup, BTS Society President Mr. Namlang Dorjee.
A Hindi version of the book on the Middle Way Approach was presented to the dignitaries on the occasion.
The ceremony included cultural performances by Tibetan students and members of the local Tibetan women’s association.

In Darjeeling, hundreds of Tibetans gathered to commemorate the 79th birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama at the Dharma Chakra Committee premises. The ceremony began with long life prayers and a mandala offering to His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
Ven. Lama Pemba Tshering Sherpa, President of Dharma Chakra Committee and Sri. M.S. Bomzon, Vice President, Tibet Support Group addressed the occasion.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of different Buddhist organisations from Darjeeling, Ghoom-Jorebunglow, Rangbull, Sonada and Pooboong.
