Brussels, Belgium: His Holiness the Dalai Lama will be visiting the Netherlands from 14 to 17 September, 2018. This will be the 8th visit to the country by His Holiness. The previous visit took place in 2014.
The main components of the visit will include a public lecture, Buddhist teaching, opening of the exhibition on Buddha’s life, an event of International Campaign for Tibet (ICT) and an audience for Tibetan community.
The visit is taking place at the invitation of De Nieuwe Kerk Amsterdam and the Foundation for the Visit of the Dalai Lama (Stichting Bezoek Dalai Lama) and International Campaign for Tibet Europe.
On 15 September, Saturday, His Holiness will inaugurate an exhibition on The Life of the Buddha at De Nieuwe Kerk Amsterdam. This includes a special dialogue during which His Holiness will speak with, amongst others, scientists and youth about compassion and technology.
The programme on Sunday, 16 September in the Rotterdam Ahoy has three parts. The first part is the audience for Tibetan community. It will be followed by a conversation between His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Richard Gere, in honour of the 30th anniversary of International Campaign for Tibet (ICT).
The final part will be the public lecture on “Why Compassion is Essential in Our Troubled World”.
On Monday, 17 September, His Holiness will be giving a teaching on Geshe Langri Thangpa’s Eight Verses of Mind Training.
His Holiness will depart for Frankfurt, Germany on 18 September.
