At the invitation of the African Cultural Heritage Trust – ACHT, His Holiness the 14TH Dalai Lama of Tibet will pay seven days visit to South Africa from November 3 – 9, 2004.
From 4th to 6th His Holiness has full days programs in Johannesburg and its suburbs with a press conference on 4th morning at the Westcliff hotel. His Holiness will visit Lam Rim Buddhist Centre in the morning and will address the business leaders at Lesedi Cultural Village in the afternoon.
On 5th morning His Holiness will visit CIDA City Campus and will interact with students. After lunch His Holiness will be at the Wits University to address the students and faculty members.
On 6th morning His Holiness will leave for Vista University in Soweto to give a public on the Role of Cultural Heritage and Arts in the Development of Free Societies and will then open the Gauteng Provincial finals of the Zindala Zombili – the National Traditional Dance and Music Festival. In the evening His Holiness leaves for Durban and the ACHT’s program with His Holiness will conclude in Durban on Nov 7 before noon.
On November 7 afternoon His Holiness will begin the one and half a day’s Buddhist Teachings on the Six Perfections and Mind Transformation, requested by the Tibet Society of South Africa, Durban. His Holiness continues the teachings on 8th whole day and on the next day He returns to India.
This is His Holiness’ third visit to the country; the first visit was in 1996 followed by the second in 1999. For further details visit www.officeoftibet.com
