
Hamburg, Germany: His Holiness the Dalai Lama will address the concluding session of the International Mindfulness Congress this afternoon in Hamburg.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama will speak on “Mindfulness – a Buddhist Practice for Today’s Society.” This address will be live webcast on the Internet – http://lecture2go.uni-hamburg.de/live for details. After the address, His Holiness will interact with four other speakers.
Mindfulness meditation is one of the best-known Buddhist practices today. Buddhists of all traditions see it as a means to gain a deeper understanding of reality and thus provide more inner freedom.
This congress brings together a broad selection from the spectrum of today’s mindfulness practices. It explores the origins and the meaning of mindfulness in the Buddhist context as well as new applications in medicine, psychology and education. The goal is to collect the results of research from different fields and discuss them in an interdisciplinary venue.
Over 30 international speakers – specialist in medicine, psychology and education will address the 3 days International Congress Mindfulness. The congress started on 18 August at the Hamburg University and concludes on 21 August.
The Congress is jointly organised by the Tibetisches Zentrum (Tibet Centre) Hamburg and the Centre for Buddhist Studies at Hamburg University.
The Tibet Centre Hamburg was established in 1977. It is known in Germany for its unique Tibetan Buddhist courses.
The Centre for Buddhist studies of the University of Hamburg was established in autumn of 2007. It promotes research on Buddhism. The University provides B.A. and the only University in Germany to provide M.A. degrees studies in Buddhism.
On 22 August His Holiness the Dalai Lama will visit Frankfurt and Wiesbaden as the guest of the German Hesse State Government.
