
DHARAMSHALA: His Holiness the Dalai Lama gave an audience to the minister of state Mr Kiren Rijijuji and joint secretary Mr K.K Pathak of Home affairs in New Delhi on 24 Nov. He expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the Government of India, particularly to the Ministry of Home Affairs and the concern officials who worked to formalise the policy guideline “The Tibetan Rehabilitation policy, 2014”. The meeting was coordinated by Dolma Gyari, the Kalon for the Department of Home of the Central Tibetan Administration.
During the meeting Mr K.K Pathak apprised His Holiness the Dalai Lama on his recent visit to the Tibetan community in remote Changtang areas in Ladakh with Home Kalon Dolma Gyari. He informed His Holiness on the current situation and developmental plans for a better living conditions to the people of Changtang.
The Tibetan Rehabilitation Policy 2014, formalised on 20 Oct 2014, comes at a time when the Government of India found that the level of assistance/facilities extended by the various State Governments is not uniform. As such, after due consultations with the concerned State Governments and the inter-ministerial consultations at the Government of India level, the policy guidelines were laid down in order to bring a uniformity across all the States and to improve the general satisfaction level of the Tibetan refugees, the Department of Home of the Central Tibetan Administration said in a statement.
