Dharamshala: His Holiness the Dalai Lama presided over the prayer ceremony for the sacred month of Saka Dawa, held at Tsuglagkhang, earlier today.
Tibetans devotees and followers amassed at Tsuglagkhang to receive his blessings and contribute to the accumulation of collective merit and virtuous deeds, at which, His Holiness the Dalai Lama stated that since Tibetan followers consume Mani Rilbu Pills as consecrated, His Holiness thus attended the prayer to perform invocations.
Since 3 June, Tibetans have been gathering at Tsuglagkhang to pray for the long life of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the sustenance of Tibetan Buddhism and for the common cause of Tibet. In addition, the assemblage will recite Medicine Buddha’s prayer on 10 June.
Saka Dawa, the fourth month according to the Tibetan calendar, is considered the most sacred month in which Buddha Shakyamuni displayed the deeds of birth, enlightenment and Parinirvana.
Tibetans and followers of Tibetan Buddhism observe Saka Dawa by paying special attention to their dharma practice, visiting holy sites to offer prayers and engaging in spiritual activities. During Saka Dawa, the merits generated through prayers and practices are considered to multiply into millions times.
