His Holiness the Dalai Lama Presides Over Convocation at Namdroling Monastery

Bangalore: His
Holiness the Dalai Lama yesterday presided over the 6th Convocation of
Ngagyur Nyingma Institute of Higher Buddhist Studies and Research
Center at Namdroling Monastery in Bylakuppee in South India.A
battery of senior officials of the Central Tibetan Administration,
monastic establishments and foreign dignitaries, including His Eminence
the Gaden Tripa, education secretary of Karnataka state, members of
visiting foreign parliamentary delegation and representatives from
Bhutan and Tawang, among others.The event started off with the
offering of auspicious Mendel Tensum to His Holiness the Dalai Lama for
his long and healthy life.

After
presenting certificates to the graduating students, His Holiness
administered them the oath of serving for the well being of the entire
sentient being.State Education Secretary Magan Gopal presented a collection of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s photographs to His Holiness. Then
Kalon Tripa Samdhong Rinpoche addressed the gathering. Kalon Tripa said
due to the grace of late His Eminence Penor Rinpoche innumerable
learned students have successfully carried on the work of preserving
and promoting the spiritual traditions. Kalon Tripa commended the
efforts and call on the students to continue in their endeavour. Kalon
Tripa also expressed his sincere gratitude to the monastic institutions
and regional bodies for their support and cooperation in organising the
first national general meeting.The congregation entreated His Holiness the Dalai Lama to pray for the swift rebirth of Kyabje Drubwang Pema Norbu Rinpoche.(Report filed by Drubgyue Nyima)
