His Holiness the Dalai Lama Leaves for New Delhi and Japan
Dharamsala 6 April 2005: His Holiness the Dalai Lama has left this morning on an eleven day-visit to Japan beginning April 9. According to the Voice of Tibet radio service, His Holiness the Dalai Lama will attend the premiere of a film of His Holiness’ life and Buddhism by noted filmmaker Gautam Ghosh and address a lecture organised by the Wild Life Trust of India in New Delhi. His Holiness leaves New Delhi for Japan on 8 April.
His Holiness will give a series of public talks in Japan including a talk on “Individual Peaceful Heart and World Peace”, ‘Compassion in Human Relations’.
His Holiness has been invited by Rengein Tanjyouji, Tamana city, Kumamoto Prefecture. His programme in Kumamoto prefecture include a public lecture at Kumamoto Prefecture Theatre, visit to Aso shrine, a public talk to the staff and students of Kyushu University of Nursing, teaching at Okun-in branch temple of Rengein, and fire puja at Regein Tanjyouji main Temple.
From there His Holiness will leave for Kanazawa prefecture where His Holiness will give two-day public teaching on Buddhist philosophy on 16 and 17 April 2005. The teaching is hosted by Busshokai foundation. Busshokai has hosted several teaching by His Holiness in the past including Kalachakra teachings in India and America and it is also the sponsor of the Kalachakra in Amravati, India, next year.
As else where, there is tremendous interest among the people in His Holiness the Dalai Lama and his message of love, kindness and compassion. Thousands of Buddhists from Korea, Taiwan and Hongkong are expected to attend His Holiness’ teachings.
His Holiness will visit Majie Shrine in Tokyo, considered to be most important Shinto Shrine and will halt at Nishi Ongangji in Kyoto, one of the most important Buddhist monasteries in Japan on his way to Tokyo. The pilgrimage to these two very highly spiritual places is in line with His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s wish of bringing inter religious harmony and that of different traditions Buddhism.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama will return to India on 19 April 2005. This is His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 10th visit to Japan.
