Los Angeles: The three-day teachings on Nagarjuna’s Commentary on Boddhicitta, which started on 12 September, were concluded yesterday. His Holiness the Dalai Lama thanked the sponsors of the teachings at the end of a breakfast hosted by Thupten Dhargye Ling Centre which organised the teachings.
In His brief address His Holiness the Dalai Lama emphasised the importance of keeping alive the pure Nalanda Sanskrit tradition of Buddhism, which thrived in Tibet and Mongolia. Whereas in Mongolia there is a good chance of its revival with the political changes taking place over there but His Holiness feels that the same is in question inside Tibet under the present circumstances. His Holiness therefore felt that the centers in the West such as Thupten Dhargye Ling could play an important role in this.
After the audience for sponsors of the teachings His Holiness the Dalai Lama gave a public talk on compassion: The Source of Happiness at the Amphitheater to a capacity full of 6,000 people. In the audience there were well-known faces of Hollywood actors. Many were surprised to see so many people in the afternoon of a working day in a city like Los Angeles.
