
MUNDGOD, Karnataka : His Holiness the Dalai Lama has begun teachings at the main prayer hall (Tib: Lachi) of Drepung monastery in Mundgod Tibetan settlement, Karnataka state.
His Holiness will give fourteen days of teaching on the 18 Great stages of the Path (Tib: Lam Rim) Commentaries including Atisha’s Lamp for the Path to Enlightenment (Tib: Jangchup Lamdron), Tsong Khapa’s Great, Middle and Concise Treatises on the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment (Tib: Lamrim Chenmo, Lamrim Dringpo and Lamrim Dudon), and 14 other classic texts at the Gaden and Drepung monastery from 30 November – 13 December 2012.
The teachings are being held at the request of H.E Ling Choktrul Rinpoche and Gaden Shartse monastery. His Holiness the Dalai lama will be speaking in Tibetan with simultaneous translations in English, Chinese, Russian and Mongolian available on FM.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama arrived in Mundgod yesterday to a rousing welcome by the local Tibetan community. Earlier, His Holiness was received at the Goa airport by Geshe Jangchup Choeden, Khen Rinpoche of Shartse monastery, Ven.Atruk Tsetan, member of Tibetan Parliament, Geshe Jangchup Dorje (organising committee), the local Tibetan settlement officer as well as by the Khenpos and prominent tulkus of all the other monasteries in Mundgod.
There will be two sessions of the teaching each day.
Morning Session: 9:00am – 11:00am IST
Afternoon Session: 1:00pm – 3:00pm IST
