Public Talk on Compassion and Birthday celebration by the Tibetan Community Germany
Wiesbaden, Germany – His Holiness the Dalai Lama just arrived in Wiesbaden, the capital of the State of Hessen and was welcomed by Tibetans and friends in front of the hotel. The German association “Friends for a Friend” and the Tibetan Community in Germany have invited His Holiness the Dalai Lama for a three day visit to Hessen.
In the afternoon, His Holiness the Dalai Lama will give an open-air public talk on compassion in the Kurpark of Wiesbaden. His Holiness visited the same park 10 years before and addressed then a crowd of 25’000 people. This time, the Vice President of the German Parliament, Mrs. Claudia Roth, the Mayor of Wiesbaden, Mr. Anno Gossmann and the former Prime Minister of Hessen and long-time supporter of the Tibetan cause, Mr. Roland Koch will deliver greetings before His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s talk. The public talk is organized by “Friends for a Friend”, that is an association set-up 10 years ago and supporting the message of peace and compassion of His Holiness and the Tibetan freedom struggle.
On Monday, 13 July, the Lord Mayor of Frankfurt, Mr. Peter Feldmann is hosting a reception for His Holiness the Dalai Lama in the Kaisersaal of the City Hall “Römer” of Frankfurt. The Kaisersaal is the official historic reception room for all state guests. After that, His Holiness will be visiting the Museum of Applied Arts where he will talk on “Taking care of others” and have a conversation with around 70 students of secondary school from all over Germany.
In the afternoon of 13 July, His Holiness the Dalai Lama will be attending the 80th Birthday celebration organized by the Tibetan Community in Germany in the Jahrhunderthalle in Frankfurt. Artists from the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts from Dharamsala, India, and from the Mongolian and Chinese community as well as from Senegal will perform in front of His Holiness. Before His Holiness addresses the gathering, Thomas Mann (Member of European Parliament), Michael Brand (Member of German Parliament) and Prof. Dr. Christian Schwarz-Schilling (former German Minister) will deliver greetings to His Holiness and the audience. Sikyong Dr. Lobsang Sangay, the democratically elected political leader of the Tibetan people, will also attend the birthday celebration and address the audience.
On 14 July, before departing for India, His Holiness the Dalai Lama will visit the City Hall of Wiesbaden on invitation by the Mayor of Wiesbaden. After that, the President of the Hessen Parliament, Mr. Kartmann as well as the Prime Minister of Hessen, Mr. Volker Bouffier along with all leaders of the political parties will meet with His Holiness in the parliament building of State of Hessen.
Tibetans from across Europe will travel to Frankfurt to celebrate the 80th Birthday of their spiritual leader. This is His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 39th visit to Germany. His Holiness has often said that he admires the determination of the German people raising from the ashes after the second world war, and becoming the largest democracy and economic power house of Europe.
