Rochester, MN: His
Holiness the Dalai Lama left San Francisco in the morning of April 27,
2009 to Rochester in Minnesota on his way to Boston for his third leg
of the tour. On his arrival in Rochester in the afternoon, His
Holiness was welcomed by over 600 Tibetan Americans from Minnesota.Speaking
to the gathering, His Holiness wanted everyone to understand why they
or their parents had to leave Tibet. People left Tibet because of the
suffering there, he added. He said the Chinese authorities were
indulging in falsehood, suppression and virtually bullying in order to
control the Tibetan people. He said everyone should involve in the
Tibetan struggle nonviolently. The most important requisite for
non-violence is education, His Holiness said. He, therefore, wanted the
younger generation of Tibetans not only to be well versed in the modern
education, but also in the traditional Tibetan values. His
Holiness said there will be a positive conclusion in the Tibetan
struggle based on truth. He said Tibetans should not have any qualms in
reaching out to the Chinese people. If we explain the situation and
provide them with information, it is possible that the Chinese people
will be able to understand the Tibetan issue properly. While in Rochester, His Holiness will undertake his annual medical checkup at the Mayo Clinic. His Holiness will depart for Boston on April 29, 2009.–Report filed by Bhuchung K Tsering of ICT
