His Holiness Returns from South Africa, No Visits to Russia Planned
Dharamsala 10 November: Ruling out any indication of a possible visit of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Russia in the media reports, an Interfax report quoted Mikhail Troyansky, Russian foreign ministry spokesperson as saying that no application for visa was received by the Russian Embassy in New Delhi.
Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, president of the Russian republic of Kalmykia, had told reporters in the city of Elista on 5 November that His Holiness the Dalai Lama would arrive in the city on 13 November and stay there through 17 November.
Troyansky has told the Interfax that “should such an application arrive, it will be considered in due course.” Meanwhile, the office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama ruled out any such visit from 13 November as reported in the media.
His Holiness has returned to Dharamsala this morning after successfully completing his South African visit from 3 -7 November.
