His Holiness returns from Czech and Italy visits

Dharamshala: His Holiness the Dalai Lama today returned to Dharamshala after successfully concluding his visits to Czech Republic and Italy from 9-15 October 2006.
During this visit to Czech Republic, His Holiness the Dalai Lama participated in the three-day Forum 2000 conference following which His Holiness the Dalai Lama took part in a multi-confessional meditation in the Catholic Church of the Holy Saviour in the centre of the Czech capital.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama arrived in Rome on 12 October and the next day His Holiness met Pope Benedict XVI. This was the first meeting between the two religious leaders.
His Holiness’ Italy visit included meetings with the Senate Speaker, Franco Marini, and House Speaker, Fausto Bertinotti, during which His Holiness the Dalai Lama repeated that he is not asking for independence but a real autonomy for Tibet.
On 14 October, His Holiness the Dalai Lama was honoured with an Honourary Doctorate Degree by the University of Rome 3 after which His Holiness participated in a conference with scientists on Neurophysiology of Mind/Pain and Consciousness of Pain
On 15 October before leaving for India His Holiness the Dalai Lama gave audience to the Tibetan community in Italy and members of Italia-Tibet Association and Italian Friends of Tibet.
