His Holiness on efforts to achieve a meaningful democratic system

Dharamshala: Underlining the
importance of developing a more meaningful democracy, His Holiness the
Dalai Lama said more efforts should be made in improving the standard
of parliamentary proceedings and the efficiency of parliament members
of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile.
Speaker Karma Chophel, on 8 March, read out the statement of His
Holiness the Dalai Lama, addressed to the 5th session of the 14th
Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile.
His Holiness stated that it is a matter great pride and
happiness for the Tibetans for successfully undertaking numerous
activities in the exile community in the last 50 years, in enhancing
democratic system based on the charter.
His Holiness said the administrative department of the Central
Tibetan Administration must put their best efforts in fulfilling their
responsibilities by using their best intelligence, adding, the issue of
Tibet has reached a critical stage along with the great political,
economic and social changes taking place in the entire world.
His Holiness underlined that members should pass legislations
on various projects, keeping in view of the both temporary and future
well-being of Tibetan people living in Tibet and in exile.
During yesterdays session, the parliament members widely
discuss His Holinesss advice on strengthening the democratic system of
the Central Tibetan Administration.
