His Holiness’ Extended Visit to Sarnath, Nalanda and Bodhgaya

Dharamshala (TibetNet): Tomorrow His Holiness the Dalai Lama will depart for New Delhi, where he is expected to give teaching on the Twelve Links of Dependent Origination at the Constitution Club. From Delhi, His Holiness will proceed on an extended visit to Sarnath, Nalanda and Bodhgaya between 6 and 14 February.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama will be in Sarnath, Uttar Pradesh state of India, from 7 to 11 February. On 7 February, His Holiness will have dialogue with Buddhists and other Indian philosophical schools and will also attend a seminar on the philosophy for the four buddhist traditions in Tibet, the following day.
On 8 February, His Holiness the Dalai Lama is expected to give a talk to students and staff of the Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies, a deemed university in Varanasi.
On 10 February, His Holiness is expected to inaugurate a 3-day international conference on Buddhism in Asia: Problems and Prospects.

His Holiness will then proceed on to Nalanda in Bihar state, where he is expected to participate in an international seminar on Nalanda on 12 February, after which he will leave for Bodh Gaya.
Following his arrival in Bodh Gaya, His Holiness will attend and address an inaugural ceremony of a week-long celebrations of the 2550th death anniversary of the Buddha.
The week-long celebrations are being organised by the Mahabodhi Society of India, Bodh Gaya, at the Kalachakra venue in that area. The Mahabodhi Society on India organised the 2500th death anniversary of the Budha in 1956. It was attended by His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the late 10th Panchen Lama.
Many dignitaries from the state, central government and from abroad are also expected to attend the inaugural ceremony.
