His Holiness Donates Rupees 3-Lakh for A Free Plastic Surgery Camp

Dharamshala: Yesterday His Holiness the Dalai Lama inaugurated a ten-day free plastic surgery camp here. The free plastic surgery camp was organised by the Lions’ Club, a voluntary organisation.
The Lions’ Club has been conducting such camps for the last two decades. It aims to help those who cannot afford such surgery at private hospitals.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, His Holiness the Dalai Lama thanked the Lions’ Club for inviting him and making him a part of this camp.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama appreciated the Lions’ Club’s generous initiative, which gives new face and a new hope to the patients. His Holiness urged them to continue such a good and social motive work in the future.
His Holiness said that as a part of the Himachal family, he would like to contribute something to this camp.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama donated rupees three lakhs to facilitate the efficient work.
Present at the inaugural ceremony were Vir Bhadra Singh, chief minister of Himachal Pradesh, Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche, Kalon Tripa of the Central Tibetan Administration, L. P. Soodan, President of the Lion Club of Dharamshala and teams of doctors from Goa, Mumbai, Jammu and Delhi.
The chief minister also addressed the function.
The president of the Dharamshala-based Lions’ Club said the camp facilitates treatment of patients with genetic deformities such as cleft palate and those who suffer disfigurement after accidents and burns.
The camp will go on till 11 April.
