His Holiness Donates Rs 1m for Himachal Flood Relief
Dharamshala, 13 July 2005- As an expression of solidarity with the victims of recent flash floods in Himachal Pradesh, His Holiness has donated one million rupees to the fund of the state chief minister Raja Virbhadra Singh for relief work in the affected regions, according to the Private Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

The sudden spate in river Sutlej on 26 June, triggered by a sharp swell in the water level of its tributary Parechu originating in Tibet, flooded large areas of Kinnaur and some parts of Shimla district.
Recent media reports cite official estimate of property losses as over eight billion rupees.
More private and public property was washed away in Kinnaur due to floods in Baspa river after heavy rains. Besides, floods also caused damage to roads and property in Kullu and Mandi districts.
