His Holiness Donates 1.5m for Quake Victims

Dharamshala: As an expression of solidarity with the victims of the recent earthquake, His Holiness the Dalai Lama has donated 1.5 million rupees for relief works in Pakistan and India’s Jammu & Kashmir, according to the Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
In a condolence message to the Pakistani President General Pervez Musharraf, His Holiness says, “I am extremely saddened by the terrible
earthquake that has struck Pakistan causing so many losses of lives and injury and so much damage. I would like to express my sense of deep pain and sadness.
“As a symbol of our solidarity with the people of Pakistan at this time of difficulty I am sending a bank draft for Indian Rs. 10,00,000/- (Rupees Ten Lakhs) as a donation towards your relief work.”
In his message to the Chief Minister Mufti Mahammad Sayeed, His Holiness says, “I am extremely saddened to learn loss of lives and injury and much damage in the northern regions of Jammu and Kashmir as a result of a terrible earthquake that struck neighboring Pakistan.
“I would like to express my deep sense of pain and sadness and as a symbol of our solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir I am
sending a bank draft in the amount of Rs. 500,000/- (Rupees Five Lakhs) as a donation towards your relief work.”
