His Holiness Calls for a Holistic Development in Himachal Pradesh

Dharamshala 3 June 2005- The developing countries have the opportunity to not to fall in the path of blind material development pursued by the advanced countries which has caused many problems, His Holiness the Dalai Lama said in an inaugural address yesterday at a national seminar on Strategies for the Development of Himachal Pradesh at the Club House, McLeod Gunj.
The development should be holistic with a balanced emphasis on both inner spiritual and external material development, His Holiness said.
His Holiness presented Divya Himachal Award for Excellence for the year 2005 to film actor and former Censor Board chairman Anupam Kher for his significant contribution to society.
“It’s a special pleasure to present this award to a person who possess all the human qualities and emotions”, His Holiness said.
His Holiness also released a poster of Kher’s soon-to-be-released movie Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Mara.
The seminar organised by Divya Himachal newspaper group analysed the prevailing realities and climate of development in the state of Himachal Pradesh.
