Paonta: Coinciding with the 60th anniversary of Tibetan democracy, the Settlement Office of Paonta Cholsum observed a ceremony of gratitude, honouring Tibet’s foremost leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama and his extraordinary leadership of the Tibetan cause and people.
The ceremony was graced by Shri Sukhram Chaudhary, honourable Power Minister, Himachal Pradesh government. Other Indian dignitaries and local leaders attended as well.
Settlement Officer, Gelek Jamyang delivered the introductory speech, calling upon the significance of the twin celebration of His Holiness’ historic achievements and ‘Tibetan Democracy Day’.
Hon. Minister hailed His Holiness as a global peace icon and expressed the profound reverence and respect of the people of Himachal for the Tibetan spiritual leader.
His Holiness’ decision to remain in Dharamshala and make it his official residence was a true blessing to all Indians, he said.
“On behalf of both the government and the people, I pay my deepest gratitude and wish His Holiness a long, healthy life.”
President of the Local Assembly also spoke on the occasion. Principal of Sambhota residential school delivered the vote of thanks.
Settlement Officer Gelek Jamgyang felicitated the honourable chief guest and other Indian dignitaries with tokens of appreciation.
