With President Donald Trump signing the Reciprocal Access to Tibet into Law, 2018 proved to be a pivotal year in drumming support for Tibet in the global political spectrum.
The year 2018 witnessed the CTA President Dr Lobsang Sangay’s maiden visit to South Africa including the address at the University of Stellenbosch, which went unhindered despite the staged protest. A similar visit to Toronto University went on as scheduled despite the protest by a group of Chinese student. Dr Sangay’s numerous official visits panning over different continents saw meetings with high-level administration officials in the United States and in the Czech Republic, the inauguration of the Czech Parliamentary Group for Tibet—the largest parliament group fro Tibet in Europe. In Japan, an increase in the number of members in Japan’s All Party Parliamentary Support Group made it the largest Tibet parliamentary support group in the world.
