
DHARAMSHALA: Health Kalon Dr. Tsering Wangchuk visited three remote Tibetan settlements in Tuting, Tezu, and Miao in north-eastern India from 15 to 28 February.
“This visit was specially focused on assessing the health status and health needs of these regions. Additionally, it was aimed to monitor the impact of existing health program of Department of Health on scattered Tibetan settlements in Tuting,” the health department said in a statement.

Health Kalon visited Gelling, Norbuling, Bona, Kopu, Podung Basti, Behari Basti, Lali Basti, A.L.C line and P.I.Line.
He personally checked around 70 patients with various illnesses. He gave public talks at the three remote settlements and visited schools, Mentsee-Khang, clinics and met with local Tibetan health committee for creating more awareness about Department of Health’s program, especially TMS scheme.
He also visited nearby private as well as Indian government hospitals to assess their benefit to the Tibetan people. He also visited some destitute families to know more about their condition and problems.
Mrs Kalsang Chodoen, staff nurse in Miao settlement, also created awareness regarding women’s health to the local Tibetan women at Tuting during his visit.
