DHARAMSHALA: Geshe Lhakdor, an eminent scholar of Tibetan Buddhist philosophy and Director of Library of Tibetan Works and Archives (LTWA), discussed ‘Ethics in Governance’ at an event organised by Tibet Policy Institute on Friday, 12 August.
The event was attended by Tibetan Justice Commissioners, members of the Tibetan parliament, members of the Kashag and officials of the Central Tibetan Administration.
During the discussion, Geshe Lhakdor strongly iterated the importance of cultivating the human values such as compassion and warm heartedness championed by His Holiness the Dalai Lama to lead a happier and contented life.
He also discussed the relevance and adaptation of ancient Buddhist philosophies and ethics in modern times in fields such as administration and governance. “Governance with empathy and holistic knowledge of the situation would not only serve the interest of the public but would also give you a satisfaction of fulfillment,” he said.
The talk on ‘Ethics in Governance’ by Geshe Lhakdor came on the heels of a recent talk by Sikyong Dr Lobsang Sangay to the staff and officials of the Tibetan administration. At the talk, Sikyong has exhorted the Tibetan staff to be more empathetic at the same time more determined and resolute in their service to the public.
