In the main train terminal of Zurich was a display of GaiaMother Tree which is a large art exhibit by Brazilian artist Ernesto Neto who created GaiaMother Tree which is a sculpture made of brightly colored hand-knotted cotton strips. It resembles a tree that is 20 meters tall and reaches the ceiling of the main concourse of the Zurich train terminal where the 2-day Assembleia was held.
The Beyeler Foundation hosted the installation of GaiaMother tree in Zurich’s Main train terminal which is one on the busiest train terminals in Europe. Damien Christinger and Daniela Zyman Curated the exhibit and are the main organizer of the Assembleia which brings together artist, activist, biologist, writers, ecologist, spiritual leaders and many other intellectuals to discuss how we can alert other humans of the fragile conditions of mother nature and how we can reimagine thinking together.
Honorary representative Telo Tulku Rinpoche was invited as guest to speak on the topic of “What does the Future Want” He introduced the public to H.H. the Dalai Lama three main commitments. Promotion of Human Values, Inter-religious harmony and the Issue of Tibet. “There is a saying, whatever has happened in the past has disappeared in to space, the most important thing now is our future, the future depends on the present, and the present is in or hands today”. Said Telo Tulku Rinpoche
“So, whether we want a more loving, kind and compassionate future, everything depends on us today. We are the people who formulate our future. When speaking of the future, it not simply about we want materially of economically but what we want for our environment as well. The Chinese have carried mass destruction of Tibet’s Ecological system by deforestation and diversion of the main rivers that most of south Asia is dependent on just as the some of the representative here today from the Amazon and the Amerindian people who are very much dependent on nature’s flowers and plant for the very survival of their way of life. Also, the Tibetan people are very much dependent on it rivers, pasture and land for the very survival of Tibet’s civilization”
Telo Tulku Rinpoche presented H.H. the Dalai Lama book “Beyond Religion” to the artist Ernesto Neto and hailed him for his vision and artwork for the spreading awareness of the Amerindian people of Brazilian Amazon’s culture and their affinity with nature and spirituality. Thousands of locals, travelers and tourist walked by the huge display and stopped by the listen to many of the presenters.
Each day the Assembleia began with a chant of blessing by the Amazon people and Buddhist chants which Honorary Representative Telo Tulku Rinpoche chanted in Tibetan and translated into English
“In the pure land surrounded by snowy Mountains,
You are the source of all benefit and happiness, Without exception,
All powerful Avalokitashvara, Tenzin Gyatso,
May you stay immovable until Samsara becomes exhausted”
Thousands of people who walked by heard and felt
