Dharamshala: The officials of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) are availing themselves of a free heart checkup jointly organised by the Tibetan Delek hospital and Cardio Lab at Gangchen Kyishong on Wednesday.Acting Kalon Tripa, Ven Tsering Phuntsok inaugurated the free heart camp.Senior officials of the Central Tibetan Administration, including justice commissioners, members of Parliament, members of the Kashag and secretaries have come for the checkup.Mr Dawa Phunkyi, chief administrator of Delek hospital said: “The free heart camp is made possible through the coordination of Mr Claudio Cardelli, vice president of Tibet support group in Italy, who approached the Cardio Lab.”“A team of 20 medical professionals, including doctors and technicians, from Italy are conducting the heart camp,” Mr Phunkyi said.He said the speciality of this camp is the use of Echocardiography system in conducting the tests, which is the latest technology to detect the levels of sugar and cholesterol and blood pressure.Many clinicians of leading echocardiography centers give accolades to its good image quality and ease during extensive clinical tests.He said a similar free heart camp was made available to the general Tibetan public last year, adding, the tests have shown heart ailments mainly amongst the new arrivals from Tibet.
