
BANGALORE: The Department of Home, Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) organised a four-day workshop on Youth Entrepreneurship and Women Empowerment from 23-26 June 2015. Participants include 19 boys and 28 girls from various professional training institutes at Neelamangala, Bangalore, under the Youth Empowerment Support (YES) program.
The objective of the workshop is to encourage the participants to achieve better entrepreneurship qualities as well as to create awareness on the importance of women empowerment. It is also aimed to educate the participants on conflict resolution in order to channelize the negative aspects of the conflicts into a constructive opportunity.
The Chief Guest for the workshop was Mr. Karma Singey, the Chief Representative Officer, Bangalore. In his keynote speech, he urged the Institute for Small Trade Learning (ISTL) trainees to make optimum use of the training period to become a self-reliant individual. Mr. Choedak, the administrator of ISTL after his welcome note made a brief introduction of the ISTL.
Resource persons at the workshop include Dr. B. Tsering, member of Tibetan Parliament in exile and Principal of the Dalai Lama Institute for Higher Education, Bangalore, Mr. Karma Lekshey, Director, Tibetan Centre for Conflict Resolution, and Mr. Tashi Wangdue, CEO, FTCI.
Mr. Lodoe Yeshi and Mr. Jamyang Nyima, ISTL alumni, shared their experiences and aspirations with the participants.
Mrs. Karma Dolma, coordinator of the Women’s Empowerment Desk, Department of Home facilitated the workshop and also created awareness on the ‘Women Empowerment Policy of CTA. She also provided an introduction on the revolving loan fund under the Youth Empowerment Support Program, Home Department, CTA.
