Dharamshala: Kalon Tripa
Samdhong Rinpoche called upon young Tibetans to follow the path of
truth and non-violence in their resolve to bring a peaceful solution to
the issue of Tibet.

“We want a peaceful solution to the Tibet issue. We
don’t want any country to spoil its relations with China at the cost of
Tibet because we believe in harmony,” said Kalon Tripa while addressing
the All India Tibet Support Group’s Special Conference held in
Chandigarh on 28 June.
Kalon Tripa further said that India and Tibet are joined beyond
the ties of culture and tradition and whatever China does to Tibet will
affect everyone.
Yashwant Sinha, former minister of External Affair, assured the
Tibetan supporters that his party would not make any compromise with
China that would hurt the interests of Tibet.
Anand Kumar, Professor at JNU, highlighted the problems of
Tibet and said the killing of more than 200 Tibetans by China is a
sheer violation of human rights. “Whatever Tibet has gone through in
the past four months has been witnessed by the entire world and
everybody has condemned the genocide by the Chinese armed forces,” he
said.
Brij Bhushan Tiwari, eminent socialist leader and member of
Rajya Sabha, is of the opinion that India is in want of such leaders
who can take up the Tibet issue with China.

The conference was organised by the India Tibet
Co-ordination Office and Core Group For Tibet Support, which was
attended by some 400 Indian friends of Tibet from across the length and
breadth of India.
The members requested the UN Human Rights Commission to visit Tibet, including the monasteries and prisons.
It also asked the UN General Assembly to discuss Tibet and take
effective steps for dialogue between His Holiness the Dalai Lama and
the Chinese leadership.
They maintained that their commitment to the cause of Tibet is
going to become stronger with every act of repression by the Chinese
authorities.
They made it clear that Tibetans are not alone in their quest
for justice and dignity in spite of tremendous pressure of the Chinese
regime upon the world community to ignore their cause.
