DHARAMSHALA: Kalon Karma Yeshi of the Department of Finance, Central Tibetan Administration, successfully completed his ten-day official visit to Switzerland and Belgium from 2 – 11 March 2018.
During the visit, Kalon Karma Yeshi attended the press conference to launch the ‘Europe Stands with Tibet’ Rally and participated in the official function to commemorate the 59th anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising day. He also took part in a side event to coincide with the ongoing UNHCR session in Geneva and spoke about the issue of Tibet, particularly focusing on the grim political and human rights situation prevailing inside Tibet under Chinese occupation. He, along with researcher Tempa Gyaltsen, responded to questions on Tibet’s environment during the session.
Meeting with various Tibet support groups and supporters during the visit, he explained the peaceful Tibetan movement led by the Central Tibetan Administration and expressed his gratitude to the continued support and assistance of the global Tibet supporters in amplifying the Tibetan movement. Speaking to the Tibetan community, Kalon spoke about the significance of the mutually-beneficial Middle Way Approach of the Central Tibetan Administration, achievements and the indispensable contribution of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to the Tibet cause, importance of Tibetan unity, and the activities of the various departments of the Tibetan administration based in Dharamshala.
He further highlighted the importance of participation in the Tibetan voluntary contribution (green book) towards strengthening the Tibetan movement, as well as the blue book initiative of the Department of Finance. The blue book initiative is the voluntary financial contribution from Tibet supporters in solidarity with the Tibet movement.
Finance Kalon also personally met with individuals in both Belgium and Switzerland for two-days, clarifying and answering doubts and questions regarding technical difficulties in the participation in the Tibetan voluntary contribution. Kalon is accompanied by Kalsang Choedon, head of the Data and Green Book section of the finance department during the Green Book outreach session.
Kalon returned to Dharamshala on 12 March 2018.
