DARJEELING: Finance Kalon left Salugara on 28 April for Darjeeling Tibetan Settlement. He was welcomed at Kharshang by the Tibetan Settlement Officer of Darjeeling and by the President, BRDL accompanied by Representatives of eight different organisations at Kharshang.
On reaching Darjeeling, he was given a third consecutive reception at Manjushree Center of Tibetan Culture by the school rector, representatives of monasteries, representative from Chagpori and by members of the public.
On his first day, Kalon visited Himalayan Tibet museum, photo exhibition and Manjushree Center of Tibetan Culture and held a meeting with its Board members followed by a visit to Tibetan Self Help Handicraft Centre. The informal meeting was held with settlement officer, representatives of the organisations and school. Kalon paid a visit to 6 monasteries under Darjeeling Tibetan Settlement Office jurisdiction.
On 29 April, Kalon visited CST Darjeeling where he met the principal, rector, teachers and staffs of the school and interacted with the students. The students performed national anthem in both Tibetan and Hindi and presented songs. Kalon gave ian nspirational speech on do’s and don’ts to the students and thanked the school principal for taking good care of the school.
The general public meeting was held in the school and was attended by a large number of people. Kalon gave a comprehensive speech on 15th Kashag’s 5-50 policy and other public related welfare issues. Kalon visited Kirti Gaden Choling monastery in Sukia and Bo-kar Nyedon Chokhor Ling monastery in Mirig.
On 30 April, Kalon visited Sonada Tashiling Tibetan Settlement and its farming area on top of the hill and later held an general meeting there. Kalon also visited the health center and CST Sonada hostels and interacted with students and hostel guardians. Kalon also gave public talk to the students and Tibetan people.
On 1 May, on the way back to Bagdogra airport, Kalon visited CST school, Sonada, met principal and held a short meeting with teachers, where he concluded his speech with a request to teachers and school administrators to take very good care of the students. Kalon later visited Sakya monastery and community hall in Kurseong and had short interactions with the community leaders.
On 3 May, Kalon returned from his official tour.
