DHARAMSHALA:
The Tibetan people living in exile today cast their ballots in the
final round of voting to elect the Kalon Tripa and members of the 15th
Tibetan Parliament, chief election commissioner said, adding he has not
received any complaints of untoward incident during the polling.There are 56 regional Tibetan election commissions across the world. The
polling was conducted today in the Tibetan communities based in India,
North America, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Austria,
Poland, Russia, Japan, Taiwan and Australia, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Jampal Choesang said in a media briefing today. The
regional election commission in Dharamsala had arranged ten polling
booths at the everything went peacefully, Mr Choesang said.“Voters are seem to be taking very active role and interest as we witness people in long queues wherever we went,” he said. “We have not received any complaint from any part of the world,” he added.Speaking
on the voting process in Nepal, the CEC said we have requested our
people in Nepal to appeal to its government to allow the Tibetans to
conduct the voting. We hope everything will go well in Nepal according
to our planned schedule before 15 April, he added.”The regional
election commissions will have to send their compiled documents to the
head office in Dharamsala before 15 April. After receiving all the
documents, the head office will compile the final declaration,” Mr
Choesang said.“We will announce the final results on 27 April 2011,” he added.A total of 83,339 Tibetans have registered to exercise their franchise. The voter turnout in the preliminary polling conducted on 3 October 2010 was 60.67 percent.More photos:
