Film on Tibet and the Dalai Lama screened in Moscow[Wednesday, 8 June 2011, 4:36 p.m.]
struggle for fundamental rights and justice and His Holiness the Dalai
Lama’s view and vision of future Tibet entitled as “The Sun Behind the
Clouds: Tibet’s Struggle for Freedom”, produced and directed by veteran
film-makers Tenzing Sonam and Ritu Sarin, was screened on June 6, 2011
at the Hall of Library for Foreign Literature in Moscow, the capital of
Russia, which is called as the bridge between the East and West. The screening of the historical
and stirring film on Tibet was organized by Moscow-based Save Tibet
Foundation and Tibet Culture & Information Center, the official
agency of the Central Tibetan Administration.
Dalai Lama to Russia & CIS, Mr. Nawang Rabgyal, welcomed the guests,
friends and journalists that gathered at the event. It was followed by
introduction of the Director and Producer of the film, Ritu Sarin and
Tenzing Sonam, by Julia Jironkina, Director of Save Tibet Foundation. The screening of 79-minute film was followed by questions and answers.
While thanking the film makers for their superlative job, the audience,
particularly journalists, asked them several questions on Tibetan-Chinese dialogue, Middle-Way Approach, His Holiness the
Dalai Lama’s devolution of political power, demilitarization of Tibet, and etc. Tenzing Sonam and
Ritu Sarin answered them confidently and comprehensively. The audience
was impressed and delighted by the film and film-makers. The transcript
of the film was translated into Russian by Julia Jironkina and Natalia
Inozemtseva.
The Save Tibet Foundation hosted the farewell dinner for the
Tibetan-Indian-film-maker-couple and they were joined by Tibetan Moscow
residents. Save Tibet Foundation has been working for the promotion and
preservation of the cultural and philosophical tradition of Tibetan
Buddhism. It works closely with Tibet Culture & Information
Center, which was established in Moscow in 1993.Tenzing la and Ritu first visited Russia in 1992 for covering the visit of His Holiness the
Dalai Lama to three traditional Buddhist Republics in Russian
Federation. Their current visit to Russia after 18 years was arranged
at the invitation of Telo Tulku Rinpoche, Head of Buddhist Temple in
Kalmyk Republic.
